Annual Capoeira Events

We are very proud to present another year of Capoeira classes, programs and events.

Under the organization of our “Contramestre Gringo” (Mauricio Campos) and students we will have our XXIV Annual Capoeira Event in Houston, TX and for the first time the I Annual Capoeira Luanda Event in Rio de Janeiro, RJ Brazil as Contramestre Gringo started a branch of our school there so our students in US now have a place to come train in Rio de Janeiro to better understand and feel the Afro-Brazilian culture.

We have both events and all of our Capoeira programs in Houston and in Rio de Janeiro supervised by Mestre Guerreiro, which is one of the founders of Capoeira Luanda.

Contramestre Gringo

Contramestre Gringo (Mauricio Campos) has been teaching classes in Houston since November of 1998.

In 2001 he founded the Brazilian Cultural Institute to further his work with the Brazilian Culture within the Houston community, bringing the culture to the schools, community centers and Universities.

Capoeira has always been the main program for the institute and after training for 27 years Contramestre Gringo is now part of Capoeira Luanda under the supervision and support of Mestre Guerreiro.

Contramestre Gringo is living in “Rio de Janeiro” Brazil where he has started the first Capoeira Luanda branch in Rio and still leads the branch in Houston.
